Fertility Preservation Hands-on Workshop on Ovarian tissue cryopreservation & transplantation May 27th 2018

Workshop director: Prof. Dror Meirow

The fertility preservation workshop is a 1-day hands-on clinical and laboratory program designed for medical doctors, embryologists and scientists who are interested in learning, discussing and practicing principals, clinical issues and different techniques of fertility preservation. The workshop will focus on cryopreservation and transplantation of ovarian cortical tissue.

Clinical sessions will be held by fertility experts and advisors and will include consultations, decision making and patients’ follow–up. The procedures shall be learned using surgery simulations, laboratory techniques using animal ovaries. Lectures will focus on storing ovarian tissue, the safety of ovarian tissue cryopreservation, transplantation of ovarian tissue and success rates.

The embryology laboratory sessions are hands-on exercises with live tissue. Each participant will obtain detailed practical knowledge accompanied by relevant literatures about the steps involved in the procedures of preparation, cryopreservation, thawing and transplantation the ovarian tissue.

Each participant in the workshop will receive the following certificate:

Center for Medical Simulation (MSR)

Surgical techniques will be exercised in Sheba’s MSR.

MSR is a world leader in Simulation-Based Medical Education (SBME) and patient safety training. As a national multi- modality, interdisciplinary simulation center, MSR conducts national mandatory courses and regulatory licensing exams in various clinical fields. MSR’s programs make extensive use of the latest and most sophisticated technology available in the field of medical simulation. Full-scale simulation systems including computerized full-body physiological mannequins, part-task and advanced task trainers, and simulated patients enable hands-on experiential simulation training in a wide variety of clinical domains including Anesthesia, Surgery, Cardiology, Ob-Gyn, Trauma, and Chemical & Biological Warfare Management.
